COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho- Dozens of local wildfires put local firefighters on standby on Tuesday. North Idaho firefighters could be called to the fire lines at any moment.

Firefighter Mike Almas returned from battling a Montana wildfire on Sunday. The wildfire season already sent Almas to four wildfires since June. He has battled flames in Montana and Wyoming.

“I think after 25 years you get used to it, and you expect it, and it’s our job,” said Almas.

The Coeur d’Alene based firefighter works for the U.S. Forest Service. Although, he is not the only Idaho firefighter being sent out of state.

About 100 other U.S. Forest Service firefighters from north Idaho are battling fires more than 100 miles from home.
