OKANOGAN COUNTY --Despite strong winds and low humidity, firefighters have kept all three fires that make up the Okanogan Complex fire from growing significantly.
The largest of the three fires is the Texas Creek fire, which has burned 768 acres. The Buckhorn Fire is 475 acres, and the Hunter Mountain Fire is 169 acres.
Crews from multiple agencies are fighting the fires including Okanogan and Wenatchee National Forest, Okanogan County Fire District 6, and Washington DNR.
Firefighters have successfully protected structures in the South Fork of Gold Creek. A Level Three evacuation recommendation is in effect for all of Gold Creek. The recommendation is expected to remain in effect through Wednesday.
With cooler temperatures and light winds forecasted Tuesday and Wednesday, along with some additional resources, crews are expected to gain some control of these fires as they continue to build fire lines.
No homes are threatened in the Squaw Creek area, or the Texas or French Creek areas.
The Northwest Oregon Incident Management Team was expected to arrive Tuesday evening and take over management of all three fires until Wednesday.
