KLICKITAT COUNTY, Wash. -- Wishram 2 wildfire continues to burn Tuesday night. Firefighters estimate that the fire has burned 11,000 acres of land so far.
Officials expect the cooler weather will help them gain ground on battling the flames. They hope to have it fully contained by Wednesday.
Fire assistance was mobilized Monday in order to help firefighters working to contain the wildfire that is currently burning.
The Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization at 2:00 p.m. Monday.
Officials say a downed electrical wire is the cause of the fire. There are approximately 40 residences threatened by the flames but no known evacuation is in place.
Specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau have also requested more help in the form of two 20 person hand crews, helicopters and brush force teams.
