SPOKANE -- Firefighters are putting out brush fire hot spots near Pacific Park Drive in the Nine Mile Falls area. About 5 acres of thick under-brush and timber burned.
Investigators said they got the call around 2:30 Friday morning from nearby homeowners who spotted flames over a bluff. Authorities said it started with a stolen truck on fire at the bottom of a hill.
No evacuation orders were put in place. Fire managers said homes near the area are safe because of their defensible space on the properties.
Department of Natural Resource, Fire District 9 and local fire agencies are working on the fire.
