GRANT COUNTY-- Two wildfires broke out in Grant County Wednesday afternoon.
One of the wildfires, near the Grant, Adams county line, spread over 1,200 acres. It spread along State Route 26 between Othello and Royal City. Officials say it was burning in sage brush and cheat grass. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. As of Thursday, Grant County said the fire was 70 percent contained, and they should have it fully controlled by tomorrow morning.
A second fire near Dodson Road NW and County Road 12.8 NW, 3 miles south of Ephrata burned Wednesday afternoon. The fire size was unknow, but crews contained and in mopped up the fire by the end of Wednesday.
Motorists are asked to be watchful for firefighters working near roadways and to avoid the areas if possible.
