NORTH SPOKANE-- Crews battled a grass fire near Elk, Washington on Monday afternoon.

The fire was located near the 17000 block of East Walter near the Pend Oreille, Spokane County line.

Fire District 4 officials confirmed the fire was about 2 acres in size around 12:45 p.m. DNR was also on scene.

Access to the fire was difficult according to fire crews. Crews also said the fire could have been worse but there was little to no wind.

As of 12:45 p.m. the scene was 80% wet-lined.

Air drops were performed.

No structures were threatened. The land belongs to Inland Paper.
