ROYAL CITY, Wash.-- Grant County Sheriff’s office issued an amber alert Saturday around noon for a missing child, 16-year-old Monica R. Helberg.

The Amber Alert was cancelled after authorities learned the possible abduction could have occurred as early as Wednesday.

Police said Helberg was last seen in Royal City and believed to be traveling with 22-year-old Miles L. Moncada.

Police confirmed the suspect was seen Saturday night at a motel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Officers  found hair dye and disposable razors in the motel room, leading them to believe either one or both of the missing people altered their appearance according to police.

Investigators said there is no evidence that Monica was abducted, however her family is concerned for her safety. Authorities said the victim suffers from severe asthma and left her medication behind.

“We’re all concerned about Monica’s safety, and her family wants her to come home,” said Sheriff Tom Jones. “ At a minimum, we hope she calls home to talk to her parents to let them know she’s okay”

Police believe Moncada and Helberg are traveling in a Yellow 2014 Ford Focus with Washington License plates ARN8440. Police said it’s possible they’re enroute to Crystal City, Texas where Moncada has family.

The victim is described as white, 5'7" weighing 140lbs with brown hair. The suspect is described as 6'1" and 165lbs, hispanic with brown hair and brown eyes.
