WASHINGTON—  The Washington State Patrol asks motorists to drive with caution during their travels this Memorial Day weekend.

They said Memorial Day weekend is a notoriously busy travel time for eastern Washington motorists with substantial increases in recreational vehicles, vehicles pulling boats and motorcyclists. The WSP wants to remind drivers to stay alert, drive with caution and be prepared for the unexpected.

Now that road construction season is upon us, they said drivers should include additional time to arrive at their destination safely and to not be in a hurry.

Troopers said they will be aggressively locating and removing impaired drivers from the road.  Aggressive driving, speeding and occupant restraint violations will also be strictly enforced.

The Washington State Patrol’s goal is to prevent serious injury and fatal collisions from occurring on our roadways.  If you see dangerous driving behavior, WSP encourages drivers to report it by calling 911 as soon as it is safe to do so.
