NEAR COLFAX, Wash.—Construction near Colfax caused several traffic headaches for drivers trying to get through the area on Highway 195.

The construction often brings traffic to a grinding halt between Colfax and Pullman.

Crews work ten hours per day to repair and repave an eight mile stretch of road between the two towns.  Construction crews said wait times for drivers often range from 20 minutes to one hour.

While some drivers said the wait is inconvenient, the road was in desperate need of repair.  Crews reported wait times have been longer in the hot streak of weather.  The asphalt takes much longer to cool down to a safe temperature to drive on.

The Washington Department of Transportation said crews try to get drivers out of construction zones within 30 minutes.
