Woman injured in auto-ped collision near downtown Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – A woman was injured in an auto-pedestrian collision near South Maple Street and West 7th Avenue Tuesday morning.

Police said a man was driving down Walnut when the woman walked out in an unmarked crosswalk. The driver slammed on his breaks, but was unable to stop in time and struck the woman.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries, but was transported to the hospital.

Police said the driver was cited and is cooperating with authorities.

Police said the collision should serve as a reminder that, even without a marked crosswalk, pedestrians still have the right of way.
