SPOKANE, Wash. -- Crews worked Tuesday to clean up after winds knocked down trees all over Spokane.

Powerful wind knocked a tree onto a duplex Tuesday morning.

The tree hit the home in the 1600 block of North Standard around 8:30.

Only minor damage was done to the roof, but residents say this could have been much worse. The tree would have landed in their young daughter's room if it went into the duplex. No one was injured.

The tree knocked out power. Avista and fire crews responded to the scene.

Spokane city crews worked to remove a large section of tree that fell and blocked Broadway, west of the County Courthouse.

Neighbor Ted Means said drivers tried to pass through, apparently not realizing lines drooped across the roadway.

City officials said if a tree falls, city workers will remove the tree off the street but then the homeowner takes responsibility the rest.

On large tree fell on top of two vehicles on the 2500 block of S. Timberline Drive in Spokane Valley.
