SPOKANE, Wash. -- A 7-Eleven clerk attempted to wrestle a gun out of a suspect's hand during an overnight robbery.

Around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, witnesses said the suspect put a mask on and put a gun on the counter at the store near 30th Avenue and Regal Street.

“All of a sudden, the clerk grabs the gun and they start wrestling over it,” said witness Tyler Panych. “Of course, [another man] and I dive out of the way ‘cause we were scared out of our shoes.”

Authorities said the clerk’s action was enough to spook the suspect, who ran out of the store.

Spokane Police brought out the K9 unit hoping to track down the suspect but were unable to find him.

No one was injured in the incident.
