FBI: N. Monroe bomb placed intentionally

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The FBI confirmed with KREM 2 News that the explosion on North Monroe and Central was from a bomb placed purposely underneath the passenger side of a vehicle.

Officials said the bomb went off around 4:45 Saturday morning. There were no injuries and no fire according to the Spokane Police Department.

The FBI said the car was last driven three days prior to the explosion. The car was leaking gas when investigators were examining it at the scene. Officials said the car will not be towed into evidence.

Officials have cleared the scene and said they do not know who placed the explosive or why. The FBI, Spokane Major Crimes, and Bomb Squad are all investigating.
