SPOKANE, Wash. -- Authorities contained a brush fire that burned 12-13 acres in West Plains.

Crews from the Department of Natural Resources took over the fire investigation Sunday.  Firefighters had the area 95 percent mopped up Sunday evening and expected to be finished at the scene before nightfall.

Officials said the fire started near a mobile home park near Airway Heights Saturday and moved east. The fire jumped Spotted Road and stopped at Cheatham Road. Firefighters said the fire was contained later Saturday night.

Along with 12-13 acres of land, three outbuildings and one abandoned car burned.

Twenty fire trucks from two different fire divisions were on the scene.

The cause of the fire was placed under investigation. No injuries were reported.
