PORTLAND – A man working in his yard in Northeast Portland was shocked to see a giant snake lurking behind him last weekend.
The man called police and they were able to get close enough to put the 4-foot-long snake into a giant bag, with the help of animal control officers.

The snake, believed to be a boa constrictor, was taken to Multnomah County Animal Control, where it will remain impounded as officials search for the owner, according to Chief Field Supervisor Chuck Poetz. Authorities said it appeared to be a pet snake that likely got loose from someone’s home.
If no one comes forward to claim the snake, it will be given to a rescue group to take over its care.
