KREM Jen wins $500 for Treats 2 Troops by bagging groceries

SPOKANE, Wash.-- KREM’s Jen York won $500 for the annual Treats 2 Troops campaign on Tuesday afternoon.  York won the Celebrity Bag-Off as part of the Washington Food Industry Association's 2013 Best Bagger Competition.

The money will be donated to Treats 2 Troops. The annual donation campaign collects goodies to send to service members overseas.

The Washington Food Industry Association (WFIA) the annual Best Bagger State Championship. Stores from around the region send their top employees each year to complete. The non-celebrity winner represent their store at the State Championship "bag-off" which is a timed competition between grocery baggers.

The winner received a $1,500 cash prize and an all-expense paid trip to compete in the grocery industry's acclaimed "National Bag-Off" sponsored by the National Grocers Association (NGA) in February 2014 in Las Vegas, NV.  

A Washington man won the national title in 2013. Andrew Borracchini of Metropolitan Markets in Seattle took home the title of America's Best Bagger along with a $10,000 grand prize and a "golden checkout lane" for the Admiral Way Metropolitan Market where he works.
