SAN ANTONIO -- NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal will be in San Antonio Friday to retire his jersey at Cole High School, his Alma mater at Fort Sam Houston.
The Cougars are retiring Shaq's jersey to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the school's class state championship win in 1989. Shaq led the team to the championship during his senior year.
O'Neal went on to play college basketball at LSU and then in the NBA, where he won four championships and was named NBA All-Star 15 times.
In 1991, Shaq even helped coach the Fort Sam Youth Activities girl's basketball team that his two sisters played on under sports director Manny Munoz -- a second cousin to KENS 5 reporter James Munoz.
Manny Munoz says he knew Shaq was good, but had no idea he'd make it as an NBA superstar.
