DR. DREW DEFENDS HIMSELF

NEW YORK (AP) -- Dr. Drew is defending himself, as he's being criticized for the treatment he gave patients on "Celebrity Rehab." Five of the stars have since died, the latest being Mindy McCready. Dr. Drew says he's not responsible for the deaths, though he tells "The View" "in a weird way" he wishes he could be. He says he hasn't been McCready's doctor in years. He says he spoke to McCready two weeks ago and helped persuade her to get help, but she left rehab within hours. Since her death, Dr. Drew says he's gotten emails and texts from 10 of his patients from Celebrity Rehab who thank him for the treatment they got.
