Storm's down and up season

Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm had a rocky start to the WNBA season. Lauren Jackson skipped most of it to focus on preparing for the Olympics with her Australian teammates. The Storm almost missed the playoffs for the first time since 2003, but they barely made it and then nearly knocked out the defending WNBA champions. But it was not to be. On Oct. 2 in the deciding Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals, Jackson’s final shot hit the rim and the Storm lost to the Minnesota Lynx 73 – 72.
