BARBRA STREISAND DIGS IN THE VAULT FOR "RELEASE ME"

NEW YORK (AP) -- Barbra Streisand has decided maybe it's better now not to be such a perfectionist. Streisand is putting out an album of unreleased material called "Release Me," pulled from several sessions over her career. Streisand says she used to shelve a song if she sang one word wrong, and in those days they'd only do two or three takes. Streisand says she kept them in a "black box" -- her personal vault -- but something opened her eyes: the Internet. She says some of those songs were taken from the Sony vault and ended up on YouTube, and she realized the songs were pretty good. "Release Me" comes out October 9.
