NEW YORK (AP) -- As family members of those who died on 9/11 visit the new memorial at the World Trade Center site, children have been putting miniature flags next to the names of loved ones etched in bronze around two reflecting pools.
Several people placed pictures of the lost on the panels. Others were using smartphones to snap photos of the memorial.
Still others used pencils to make rubbings of the names on paper.
Some of the mourners are dressed in somber, dark suits. Others are wearing fire department t-shirts.
President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush earlier bowed their heads at the trade center site and ran their hands over the names of victims. They were joined by their wives as they walked up to one of the two reflecting pools built over the towers' footprints.
