SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho—Police found the body of a possible rape suspect in a stolen Forest Service truck Friday south of Coeur d’Alene.
Officials learned a pickup was stolen early Friday morning from the US Forest Service Silver Valley office in Smelterville, Idaho according to police.
Later that afternoon, Idaho State Police found the pickup on Highway 95, south of Coeur d’Alene, with the body of William Baldwin inside.
Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office named Baldwin a person of interest Wednesday after Mineral County Sheriff’s Office in Montana identified him as a possible rape suspect. Deputies said a vehicle, supposedly driven by Baldwin, eluded them Wednesday afternoon near Wallace, Idaho.
Deputies from Montana and Idaho searched for Baldwin Wednesday evening, but were unable to find him.
Idaho State Police said details about Baldwin’s death and the discovery of the Forest Service pickup were not immediately available.
