COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- The 3rd street boat launch is set to close June 1st and boaters are unsure where they will be able launch their boats.

Crews are working on McEuen Park right next to the 3rd Street ramp causing it to close.  Now major ramps like Higgens Point are bracing for an influx of boats this season.

On May 24, the gates at Blackwell Island boat launch open for the season and people who normal use 3rd street are expected to use that launch as well.

This will cause a huge back up at these major boat ramps.

The Bureau of Land Management that runs the Blackwell Island boat launch is also being hit hard by federal sequester budget cuts. This wil cut season jobs for people usually running the facility.
