SPOKANE-- It’s one of the biggest surprises of the Washington Primary night, it looks like Daryl Romeyn will be challenging Cathy McMorris Rogers.
The former KREM 2 weather anchor was not the endorsed candidate of the Spokane Democratic Party. He wasn’t even at the election night party initially. Romeyn has never held public office, he’s never even run before. But at last count Wednesday morning, he was ahead of his next closest challenger by nearly 4,000 votes.
Cathy McMorris Rodgers is winning with more than 57% of the vote compared to Romeyn's 16%. She told KREM 2 News she knows she is not just fighting another candidate, but also people’s perceptions of Congress.
Romeyn has spent most of his time going door to door campaigning at every local event he can get too, even bringing out a wagon pulled by his donkeys this week.
