WASHINGTON (AP) — The campaign committee of Senate Republicans has again trailed its Democratic opponent in fundraising and savings.

Both campaign groups on Friday released fundraising summaries that showed donors continuing to open wallets. Democrats are defending a six-seat majority, and strategists say Republicans have a shot at winning at least that many races.

Donors gave the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee $8.3 million in May and it banked $28.2 million. The Democrats also borrowed $5.2 million in May to buy an office building on Capitol Hill.

Republican donors gave the National Republican Senatorial Committee $5.8 million in May. The committee has saved $22.1 million.

Both parties plan to use their cash for on-the-ground operatives and television ads in tight races.

Democrats have outraised Republicans in 15 of the last 17 months.
