Idaho -- The Idaho National Guard has postponed monthly training for October 5 and 6 because of the government shutdown.

Maj. Gen.  Gary Sayler, Idaho National Guard commander, announced Wednesday the postponement of monthly training for members of the Idaho Army National Guard and Idaho Air National Guard. Maj. Gen. Sayler said the National Guard had no choice but to postpone the training because of the uncertainty caused by the government shutdown.

Here is the current plan for Citizen Soldiers and Citizen Airmen to make up the training:

Idaho Army National Guard - Training for October 5 and 6 is rescheduled for October 19 and 20 if the government shutdown has ended. If the issue is not resolved by that time, another announcement will be made.

Idaho Air National Guard - Training for October 5 and 6 is postponed. Once the government has been funded, the National Guard will determine individual plans for making up the missed training.

The National Guard said the monthly training is the way to ensure the soldiers are trained to conduct vital missions.
