NEW YORK (AP) — Anthony Weiner is forging ahead with his mayoral campaign and shrugging off calls for him to quit amid a new round of revelations about his salacious online dalliances with women.

The ex-congressman was greeted with boos as he took the stage at a public housing meeting Wednesday evening. But by the end of his remarks, the crowd loudly cheered.

Some rivals, newspapers and a former congressional colleague are pressing the Democrat to bow out after he acknowledged he kept sexting after it spurred his 2011 resignation.

He tells supporters in an email he regrets "not saying explicitly" how long the exchanges extended. He says they've stopped.

The gossip website The Dirty this week posted X-rated messages and a photo it said the married politician exchanged with a woman last year.
