WASHINGTON (AP) —
President Barack Obama says his campaign isn't just based on attacks on Mitt Romney.
In an interview that aired this morning on CBS, Obama was asked about the large number of negative ads that have been run against Romney by his campaign in recent weeks.
Obama said his campaign has done "a whole slew of positive ads" on the changes needed to the education system and the tax code, and on how to rebuild the nation and promote American energy. He says those ads just "don't get attention in the news."
He said he and Romney have a "very different approach" -- and that it "serves the democratic process well" to focus on what he and Romney are each saying.
Romney told Fox News that Obama "has only one thing going -- and that is constant attacks on me." He said the attacks are "dishonest" and "misdirected" -- and his message to Obama was that it would be better to "spend some time speaking about your record."
