BOISE -- The Idaho House delayed voting on proposed ban on teens using tanning beds after a free-market group's objections convinced some Republicans they need more information.

Rep. Janice McGeachin of Idaho Falls says an email from the Idaho Freedom Foundation group raised this concern: Dermatologists behind this bill seek to benefit financially because they'd be the ones to prescribe tanning sessions for certain conditions, rather than letting teens just tan on their own.

Thursday's 42-26 vote to delay a House vote on the ban came over objections from House Minority Leader John Rusche of Lewiston, who argues the prohibition for teens will spare people from skin cancer.

Rusche, a doctor, contends returning the bill to committee will lead to its demise.

McGeachin pledged fair treatment at a renewed hearing.
