POST FALLS, Idaho -- Post Falls Police arrested a man for a string of home robberies over the weekend.

Kootenai County Sheriff's Department

Stephen Hess

Stephen Hess, 28, was booked into the Kootenai County Jail on burglary, battery and grand theft charges.

Early Saturday the Post Falls Police Department responded to three separate home invasions on the city’s westside.

All three of the cases involved women calling to report an unknown male subject in their homes.

Each of the three women reported personal property taken from their residences.

Timeline

* Call No. 1: The first home invasion call was reported around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday on Stephanie Street. Patrol responded to the area, but the suspect had run from the house and couldn’t be found. Responding officers; however, noticed a parked vehicle in an odd area and logged the license plate of the vehicle.

*Call No. 2: The second call came in around 5:00 a.m., from Hydra Place, which is near the Flying J Truck Stop. The victim said she awoke to the male pulling on her clothing while she slept in her bed. She yelled for her husband and the male suspect fled the home. As Hess fled the home, he was being chased by the victim’s husband. The husband was unable to catch Hess, but did provide a vehicle description. The description matched the same vehicle the officer logged earlier in the morning when responding to the first call.

* Call No. 3: Victim reported that someone had entered her home, through an unlocked door, while she was sleeping and stole her purse. Investigators, using the plate logged by the patrol officer, located Hess’ vehicle and Hess in Coeur d’ Alene. After serving a search warrant on Hess’ residence and vehicle they were able to recover all of the items taken from the three homes.
