CLARKSTON, Wash. -- Authorities determined Wednesday that a mental health issue caused a 62-year-old man to cut off his genitalia.
The man was found laying in the middle of 5th Street on Tuesday.
Asotin County Sheriff’s deputies eventually interviewed the man. Authorities are not releasing his name.
Medics took the man to the St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. Doctors told authorities that the man is expected to recover.
Law enforcement officials were able to recover the severed genitalia and transport it to the hospital for possible reattachment.
