Simona Manzares has pleaded guilty to recruiting gang members.
CALDWELL -- A Caldwell woman has admitted to a felony charge of recruiting criminal gang members.
Simona Lisa Manzanares, 29, entered the guilty plea Thursday in a Canyon County courtroom.
Authorities say this is the first conviction for the gang recruitment statute in Idaho since the law was enacted in 2006.
Manzanares was arrested by Caldwell Police in Feb. 2007. She was originally arrested and charged with recruiting criminal gang members and supplying firearms to a criminal gang.
The supplying firearms to a criminal gang charge was dismissed in a plea deal in exchange for a guilty plea to the recruiting charge.
That charge is a felony under Idaho law and carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
Sentencing for Mazanares is set for Aug. 26th.
