“After I heard the first shot I told everybody inside to get down and I proceeded to go back in the kitchen area behind the counter,” said Jermaine Tayvies, Burger King manager. “I didn’t know if they were going to keep shooting or what.”
Tayvies said he was hit by flying glass, but paramedics treated and released him at the scene. There were no other injuries reported.
Three workers were inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting, according to Tayvies.
The shooting took place just after 2 a.m. at the corner of Southeast Stark Street and Southeast 100th Avenue.
Tayvies said a car pulled into the Burger King parking lot and then someone inside opened fire.
“That’s when I got on my cell phone and called 911. Luckily I had my cell phone in my pocket because I was on the floor behind the counter.”
Two bullet holes were visible in the glass windows Friday morning.
Witnesses reported seeing the car speeding off eastbound on Washington Street towards Gresham.
Neither suspect nor vehicle descriptions were available from investigators.
