LEWIS COUNTY, Wash. -- A Spokane mother is fighting western Washington officials more than ten years after her daughter's death. A jury ruled the Lewis County coroner made a mistake when he told a Spokane mother that her daughter killed herself. But the coroner and the sheriff say they have no plans to re-open the case.
Ronda Reynolds died in December of 1998 when she was in the process of divorcing her husband. Her husband told police he found her body in the closet of their Toledo, Washington home with a gunshot wound to the head. But her mother knew it just wasn't true. And now Barb Thompson plans to ask the judge to make her daughter's cause of death a homicide.
Thompson hopes Lewis County voters will remember this case if the coroner and the sheriff run for re-election.
