A head-on collision between an SUV and a sedan shut down all eastbound lanes of State Route 520 during the morning commute Thursday.

The Washington State Patrol said the SUV driver, a man in his mid-50s, went the wrong way in the eastbound lanes. Troopers believe alcohol was a likely factor in the crash.

The driver of the wrong way vehicle was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault. He had injuries to his lower leg.

A woman in her mid-20s was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

SR 520 was back open by 8 a.m.

Troopers are trying to figure out where the wrong way driver got on SR 520, They are asking that anyone who may have seen the driver heading the wrong way call them at (425) 401-7740.
