McCLEARY, Wash. - Thanksgiving has always been a favorite holiday for the Baum family. Not this year.

"It's really hard to be thankful now for much of anything," said Mellisa Baum.

Her daughter, Lindsey, was 10 years old when she was last seen June 26 walking home from a friend's house in McCleary.

Exactly five months after her daughter vanished, Melissa Baum is thankful for the support she continues to get from police, the community and total strangers.

A fundraiser and volunteer search are planned for this weekend in McCleary.

"They've come to love Lindsey," said Mellisa Baum. "And they never knew her. That means a lot."

Melissa Baum plans on having a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with relatives in Tenino.

Lindsey's mother said she thinks her daughter is alive and will return home someday. She admits it's difficult to stay positive.

"I really thought she'd be home by now," said Baum, "I kept thinking she had to be here by the holiday season, and it's here and she's not."

Don't give up! Have faith! My prayers are for her safe return very soon.

Keep your chin up. The return of Lindsay is on top of all my Christmas wish lists.

I can't imagine how hard that would be to have your child missing for so long. I think it would have to be every parent's night mare. I certainly hope she comes home soon.

I live in the grays harbor area, there have been some updates as far as we all know out here, unsure if anyone else has heard. Aberdeen Police Station received an anonymous tip from someone I know, and was told that 2 men were arrested in Arizona in connection with this case. The rumor mill has been working overtime all over I am sure.. but this is what I have heard.. and it really seems reliable.. Lindsey was walking home as reported and was hit by a car, driven by someone on drugs (it was said a "tweaker") and instead of taking her just up to Mark Reed (the local hospital), they instead they took her out to the beach and threw her body into the ocean.. with the amount of drug use, meth in particular on the harbor, this just has a ring of truth to it... I am so sorry to the family, I am sure it's not anything that anyone wants to hear, and I hope that it is all rumors.. but I feel like it needs to be talked about and said outloud, to either confirm or dispute the rumor...

Thanks for your post Alleebratz, Do you know if either man has ties to or lives in Grays Harbor County and the other lives in Az? Or the town or county in which they were arrested? The rumor going around about 2 weeks ago was the passenger turned himself in as an accessory to the crime and then LE debunked the rumor. Could be what you are saying has more credence. And LE could be truthful in saying that rumor was false but just aren't saying anything else about what they know. That is if there is any truth to it. Please keep us posted if you can.

I'm sure that no matter what the outcome they want to know what happened to their daughter, sister, grand-daughter, niece, friend. Not having closure must be torture for them.

living on the harbor i too have heard those rumors last i heard it was 3 guys were tweaking and hit her, then they buried her in grayland and then put her in a crab pot in the ocean. after hearing that i looked on kxro.com and it said "However Grays Harbor Sheriff investigators say the reports were false and spread by someone try to settle a score with the reported suspect".. i think that is just a sick thing to do
