EVERETT, Wash. - A suspect was apprehended after a massive manhunt shut down Interstate 5 in both directions Wednesday evening.
Police activity on I-5 in South Everett disrupted traffic in both directions. All lanes were blocked on Interstate 5 between 75th Street SE and 41st Street SE while police went on a massive manhunt.
Wednesday at about 6 p.m., deputies spotted a suspect vehicle in the south Snohomish County area and initiated a pursuit. At some point, the suspect fired shots at deputies, striking one deputy's patrol vehicle. No injuries were reported.
The pursuit continued north on I-5, resulting in a rollover crash involving a vehicle that was not part of the pursuit. It appears one person in that vehicle was injured in that crash.
The suspect got out of his vehicle on I-5 in Everett and fled on foot, gun in hand.
Officers and deputies were out with K9 searching for the armed suspect. Police warned residents with megaphones in the neighborhood to stay inside their homes.
Police shut down the freeway in both directions while police were searching for the suspect.
The suspect was caught just before 8 p.m.
The suspect is described as black or Hispanic male in his 20s, 5-foot-7 with curly hair in a ponytail, missing a shoe. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and khaki shorts and possibly a jacket.
