SEATTLE, Wash. -- Workers at the Port of Seattle appear to have a lot of work ahead to right some shipping containers that have toppled on a cargo ship while at sea.
According to Coast Guard officials, the ship currently docked at Terminal 18 came into port Friday from Busan, Korea. The ship departed Korea on November 12 and then encountered severe weather on the seas. The crew reported to Coast Guard officials two days ago that 53 containers were damaged and 18 containers were lost overboard in international waters.
The ship itself was not damaged.
Port of Seattle officials say the ship is a regular Mersk vessel that came from the typhoon area. Coast Guard officials say the ship encountered very rough seas, but was not directly impacted by the typhoon.
