SPOKANE, Wash--Local licensing shops saw long lines when specialized plates went on sale Thursday for Seattle Seahawks and Sounders fans.
Fans lined up outside of the Downtown Deportment of Licensing office in Spokane as well as the licensing office on Division Street.
The Seahawks plates feature a 12th man flag and the Sounders plates show a fan holding a scarf.
The plates cost around $40 more than regular ones, however part of the proceeds went toward charity.
D.O.L employee, Sara Sandberg, said by noon the office sold nearly a dozen Seahawks plates to fans.
"They were very excited. We even opened for them before officially before our hours started just because they were so excited to get their new plates," she said.
A portion of the proceeds from Seahawks plates goes toward Invest-Ed, an organization that helps cover the costs of school for students from low-income families.
A D.O.L spokesperson said more than 1,000 plates were sold Thursday afternoon in Washington.
The plates can be purchased at a licensing office or ordered online and shipped within three to eight weeks.
