BOISE -- A man is in the Ada County Jail charged with kidnapping and cruelty to animals.
Police say it started when 47-year-old Bennett Bartlett got into an argument with a woman who told officers she occasionally allows Bartlett to stay at her home.
The victim says that at one point the suspect grabbed her small dog by the neck and began to choke it.
She says the suspect hit her and prevented her from leaving the home.
She finally convinced Bartlett to leave and called 911.
Officers say neither the victim nor the dog appeared to have serious injuries.
