OLYMPIA, Wash. – Now might be a good time to start paying for your child’s tuition – even if that child isn’t even close to college-aged. Washington state’s Guaranteed Education Tuition (GET) Program is currently enrolling.

“It’s never too early,” GET Program Director Betty Lochner said. “If you can start when your child is born or even before they’re born.”

Lochner said the accounts are completely transferable between family members, so those who open an account in their own name can transfer it to their child down the road.

“Now is really the best time,” Lochner said. “Today; yesterday.”

The GET Program allows Washington state residents to buy a year of tuition now at today’s cost and redeem that year of tuition much later, regardless of how much tuition has gone up in that amount of time.

The program is tax-exempt and students can use their tuition at any university.

Enrollment for 2013-2014 just started this month and continues through May 31.
