BOTHELL, Wash. – "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is a book many parents are familiar with and it's been turned into a movie they may get dragged to see. But it's also launching an 11-year-old from Bothell onto the silver screen.
Fifth grader Karan Brar is precocious, funny and a gentleman. He plays sixth grader Chirag Gupta in the movie. Karan's enjoying his local media blitz, from a sit-down interview with Joyce Taylor on KING 5 Morning news to an interview with KIRO-FM.
So how did this kid from Bothell end up in Hollywood?
"My dad. He liked movies a lot. So when I was seven years old, he signed me up for classees. So, I realized that was my talent. Later on, after months, I got an agent, Sterling Talent, and to this day, they got me 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' for a job," said Karan.
Karan obviously is touched with a lot of talent, but before this movie, he didn't figure on an acting career. He had thoughts of getting a master's degree in math. He says he might still do that, but he still wants to act.
After his mini-media tour, Karan went back to school to finish his day.
"Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is rated PG.
