FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Federal Way police officers fired at a suspected car thief who they say rammed two police cars with the vehicle.
Police say at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday in the 33300 block of 26th Ave SW in Federal Way, someone reported a suspicious vehicle backed into an unoccupied duplex.
Federal Way Police responded. When they ran the vehicle's plates, they found out the car was stolen. As they approached the vehicle, one of the suspects started it and rammed into a police car, then struck a second police car.
Police fired at the driver. He was struck once in the arm and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with non-life threatening injuries.
A second person in the car was not apprehended.
No officers were injured.
Two officers are being placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
