BOISE -- A Boise man is in the Ada County Jail today after police say doused his female roommate with lighter fluid and threatened to set her on fire.

Jonathan Drake, 23, is charged with felony aggravated battery following an incident at a Boise residence last night.

Boise Police were called to a fight in 1900 block of West Panama Street around 11 p.m.

Witnesses told officers that Drake had been drinking and became angry at his roommate.  At one point, he held her by the throat before retrieving a can of lighter fluid.  He then sprayed her with the lighter fluid while holding a lighter and making verbal threats.

He was arrested and booked on a charge of aggravated battery.  Police say this felony charge falls under a definition in the law whereby a person threatens another with a corrosive acid or a caustic chemical of any nature.

Man, this is one sick puppy.... Now I see two things developing. 1. He is going to claim he only did it because he was drunk. And 2. She is going to take him back. Some people are born losers, others are born to become losers.

Yes, that is the sickest part is that she probably will take him back. What is wrong with women who allow themselves to be abused and keep going back because #1-can't seem to live without a boyfriend (pathetic in itself) or 2) she 'has no where else to go' (BS!). Plenty of shelters keep you and your kids safe and help get you on your feet which yes, it does include getting a job. Some women prefer Welfare. Sorry so harsh but we all know its true.

The sad part of this is that people don't understand that the victim is "brainwashed" to a degree and it will take alot of support, around the clock to help her to realize that she is a worthy person and does not have to live this way. I hope that this lady has a strong and VERY patient family and friends that will support her emotionally so that she will be able to release herself from this very destructive environment.
