LYNNWOOD, Wa—Two bear cubs survived a dramatic capture after they were found in a tree in Darrington, Washington.
One of the cubs, a female, suffered a collapsed lung when it was hit with a tranquilizer dart.
Both were transported to PAWS Wildlife Center. An exam revealed a puncture wound in the cub’s chest.
A veterinary team closed the wound and re-inflated the cubs lung.
The cub’s condition remains guarded and PAWS is optimistic it will make a full recovery and be ready for release next year.
