ABERDEEN, Wash. (AP) — Aberdeen police say three people were injured Friday afternoon when a van crashed into a convenience store. One of the injured is a 2-year-old girl who has been airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. KIRO-TV reports she has a broken leg and internal injuries.
The 57-year-old Hoquiam man who was driving the van was taken to a nearby hospital. The girl's 30-year-old mother was treated and released.
A police spokesman says a witness indicates the van driver pulled up to the 7-Eleven and came to a stop about 2:30 p.m. Friday but then the van's engine began revving. The spokesman says the van appeared to go into drive and then plowed through the front of the store, traveling all the way to the back before coming to a stop.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
