DES MOINES, Wash. - Police in Des Moines say one man was injured in an explosion at a home Friday evening.

The man, 41, was using a torch on the roof while doing some repairs when the explosion occurred. Firefighters found the man in the street with second- and third-degree burns to his torso, arms, and hands.

Neighbors say they could hear the boom, which shook nearby houses.

"It totaled the poor house," said one neighbor. "It just demolished it, nothing left."
Crews disconnected the power to the house as investigators worked on the property which is near S. 232nd St and 21st Avenue S.

The home is owned by the bank, and the man who was injured had been hired to do work on the property. Friday night the injured man was in stable condition.

An investigation into what caused the explosion is ongoing.
