The Washington state ferry Tacoma, heading from Seattle to Bainbridge Island, lost power while on a run and got stuck in the middle of Puget Sound Tuesday afternoon.
Around 405 passengers and 138 cars were on board the vessel. The vessel dropped anchor while the Coast Guard was notified and Washington State Ferries dispatched tugs to the scene.
Two tugs arrived at the scene and pulled the ferry to the Bainbridge Island ferry dock. Passengers and cars were getting off the ferry.
Washington State Ferries said the Tacoma will remain out of service. The Walla Walla will make a late 2:55 p.m. departure from Bainbridge Island to Seattle.
No word yet on what caused the outage.
