CHALLIS, Idaho -- The U.S. Geological Survey reports a magnitude 4.1 earthquake shook the ground about 9 miles north of Challis just before 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
According to dispatchers at the Custer County Sheriff's Office, callers felt the temblor up to 45 miles away.
A magnitude 4.1 earthquake can shake the ground, rattle items on shelves inside houses, and is felt by most people in the affected area.
Authorities don't have any reports of damage or injury.
Dispatchers report a series of smaller earthquakes in the past few weeks throughout the area.
