BELLEVUE, Idaho -- Ada County Coroner Erwin Sonnenberg says a 12-year-old boy has succumbed to injuries he suffered Sunday when his snowmobile collided with a snowmobile driven by his dad.
Nolan Kreczkowski died at a Boise hospital Monday night. Sonnenberg says the cause of death is blunt force trauma. Nolan suffered head and chest injuries, and some broken bones in the accident.
Blaine County Sheriff Gene Ramsey says the crash was reported at 4 p.m. Sunday, where several people were taking turns jumping snowmobiles on a hill in a field.
Witnesses say 47-year-old Keith Kreczkowski was traveling east and went airborne over the hill just as his 12-year-old son, Nolan, crested the hill from the west.
Ramsey says the bottom of Keith's snowmobile struck the hood of Nolan's snowmobile and then the boy's chest. Both were knocked off their machines by the force of the collision.
Keith Kreczkowski is recovering from his injuries at St. Luke's in Boise. A hospital spokesman says the family has not authorized any release about his condition.
